How long have you lived in Grand Rapids and what do you love about the city?

I moved to Grand Rapids in 1996. What I love most about our city is the development we have seen over the last twenty years. Our downtown went from underdeveloped, to growing, to being a vibrant and booming city today. We are lucky to have the culture, culinary, and history here in Grand Rapids! I have said more than once, Grand Rapids provides the big city amenities with a small town community.

What do you do for work?
I own Serendipity Media, a full service media company specializing in magazine publishing and content marketing. We publish several national magazines, but the one most people know us for locally is West Michigan Woman. When we started that magazine in 2012, that was a passion project. Thankfully, the publication has grown in the last seven years. My passion project now is Wine & Wig. It’s the West Michigan Woman philanthropic event that raises funds for breast cancer. Specifically, we focus on early detection, treatment support, emotional support, and research. We are proud to have raised over $167,000 for our charity partners to date and look forward to continue raising funds for the cause. This year’s Wine & Wig is October 3, 2019 at the High Five GR.

Which skincare or makeup products are in your routine that you swear by?
I am a minimalist. The two products I LOVE right now is the Skinmedica cleanser. It definitely makes your skin feel clean and refreshed. And, I have to use my daily neck cream by Dr. Dennis Gross. I feel like my neck is aging and the neck cream has made a difference in my skin being more taut.

What is your favorite part about being a member?
I love the fact that it forces me to take the time to get a facial each month.

What's your favorite service to get done at Urban You?
The HydraFacial is fantastic. When it’s all done, I feel like I got a true cleanse and my skin feels so refreshed.

Which service haven't you tried that you want to?
I desperately want to get eye lashes, but I won’t let myself. I think sometimes you have to pick and choose what you want and what you have time for.

Do you have any skincare/makeup/self care tips/tricks?
I work long days, often traveling for work, and I always use an eye primer to ensure my eye make-up stays on all day. For the last 15 years, I have used Mac’s eye primer and it works fabulous. Even if I’m exhausted, my eye make-up should be in great shape!

What is a quote/lesson you live by?
In order to succeed, your desire for success should be greater than your fear of failure!
