Name: Nicole “Nic” Yoder
Hometown: Milford, MI - SUPER close to our new Northville location!
Current town: Grand Rapids, MI

What do you do for work?

I am the Operations Manager at Urban You. I work very closely with the assistant managers at all three of our beautiful locations in Michigan ensuring that we are working as a team to provide best experience possible to our guests and members, while cultivating a positive and empowering environment for the staff.

What’s on your current to-do list?

PERSONAL

1. We are working on small home improvement projects. It's been really fun changing the look of our house. It's a lot of work, but completely worth it. It feels great to declutter and donate our stuff to others that will appreciate it more.

2. Reaching my goal to hit 250 classes at The Barre Code GR by 2021. This past year my goal was to hit 100, and I accomplished it! It felt great, and kept me motivated.

3. Exercising my two rescue pups. This winter they added a little extra "fluff", and I need to get them back to a healthy weight. (I think they are just well loved, but the vet doesn't agree)

PROFESSIONAL

There are always a number of things on my to-do list! The main goal is to help continue the positive growth at Urban You, and improve the overall experience for guests. Everyone should experience the extraordinary service our staff provides at least once. :)

What do you like to do for fun?

For fun my husband and I like to do anything outdoors. In the summer this includes riding our bikes around downtown ada or hiking in the beautiful parks we have around here. We also love visiting vineyards and wine tasting. In the winter we like to head up north for snowmobiling with my family. We try to go as often as we can before the snow melts. Traveling and making friends in other countries is also a favorite (and expensive) hobby of ours.

Name a celebrity or person of interest (dead or alive) that you would want to have lunch with and tell us why!

There are a lot on my list including Maya Angelou, Jane Austen, Queen Elizabeth I, Marie Curie, Alex Trebek and F. Scott Fitzgerald (favorite Author). But I would want much more time with them than just a lunch.

For a lunch date, I would choose Betty White. She reminds me of my Grandmother, and she has such an amazing spirit. I think anyone would agree that she is a national treasure. It would be impossible to leave lunch with Betty White in a bad mood.

Do you practice a skin care routine at home?

No - But I know there is some awesome skin care at Urban You! A big part of our company culture is education. We carry medical grade skin care lines like skinbetter science and Skin Medica and are encouraged to ask questions, be curious about new trends in beauty and wellness, and try the services and products in-house before we officially put them on our ever-growing services list. I get to be a sort of guinea pig, so a lot of my skin care actually happens at work!

skinbetter science and Skin Medica products are purposefully developed and only available through authorized providers. This model supports physicians and consumers by establishing genuine patient-practice relationships. They employ accomplished science to create genuine connections with our providers and real life results for our patients.

How does Urban You fit into your lifestyle?

Urban You helps me feel confident and fierce!

What services have you tried at Urban You? Which was your fave and what’s next on your list?

Medspa facials and peels, and non-invasive body contouring with CoolSculpting.

Favorite: ALL OF THE FACIALS. I have never been someone who tries facials, but now I am hooked! My skin has never looked better. If I wasn’t an employee, I would definitely be an Urban You member and come in for a monthly facial. Regular facials have seriously transformed my skin and I’ve never felt more confident.

Next: Cosmetic Injections. I’m learning so much about how beneficial they can and how they can be used as a more age prevention. Our nurse injectionists are incredibly knowledgable and have a combined experience of over 40 years, so I know I’m in good hands!

What are your beauty and wellness goals in 2020?

Spending more time practicing self-care, and less time stressing about things I cannot change.

Anything else you’d like to share?

I started my career working in the automotive industry, and I always thought it would be the industry I retired in. Somehow I found my way to medical aesthetics in 2019 which is an area I knew nothing about. But I am now living and breathing the beauty and wellness industry and learning every single day! My strengths are people and project management and those apply extremely well with this position. It has been a challenge, which keeps it interesting, and I am grateful for my supportive coworkers at Urban You helping me adjust. There is still so much to learn, wish me luck!
