We are starting this quarter of the year diving into what it means to be carefree. April walks us through what mindfulness is and how mindfulness can help you be more in the present and carefree in the moment.

We’re focused on teaching mindfulness and self-compassion and a variety of other topics related to mindfulness. I like to believe we are a bridge organization. We’re the first point of entry for people who would like to explore mindfulness.

What is the Grand Rapids Center for Mindfulness?

At the GRCFM they are dedicated to teaching people how to use powerful mindfulness-based tools to manage their stress and take responsibility for their own health and well-being.

Co-founded by Carol Hendershot and April Kaiserlian in 2011, GRCFM has led hundreds of participants through mindfulness programs in West Michigan and beyond. Their programs are based on the groundbreaking work of Jon Kabat-Zinn at the Center for Mindfulness at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center, and Kristin Neff and Christopher Germer of the Center for Mindful Self-Compassion.

In March 2020, they added online workshops, courses, and presentations to their offerings.

Supported by over 35 years of research, mindfulness has been shown to be an effective complementary treatment to many different areas of physical, mental, and emotional health.
