CoolSculpting - What Is It?
CoolSculpting is a nonsurgical, noninvasive procedure that diminishes fat cells by freezing and ridding your body of them. Treatment sessions take 45-60 minutes each, with little to no recovery time after you’re done.
It is an FDA-Approved service proven to reduce treated fat cells by up to 25% after just one treatment. That being said, depending on the size and desired results of the treated area, sessions may be spread out over the course of 1-3 months.
CoolSculpting is FDA-Approved to treat these common problem areas:
- Double chin - Abdomen - Love handles
- Bra fat - Upper arms - Outer thigh
- Banana roll - Inner thigh - Underneath buttocks

Why Should I Book CoolSculpting During Prepping Season?
As mentioned earlier, CoolSculpting can take 1-3 months to see optimal results from treatment. This is because the body needs time to flush out the frozen fat cells.
The sooner you start your CoolSculpting journey, the sooner you’ll see the results you’re looking for. Gear up for bikini season and give yourself the gift of confidence you’ve always dreamed of!
The Urban You is the #1 rated CoolSculpting Medical Spa in West Michigan! We offer a Treat-to-Complete package and customized treatment plans to ensure that you get the results you want.
Laser Hair Removal - What is It?
Shaving and waxing may be the two most common forms of body hair removal, but they’re time consuming, painful, and end up costing hundreds of dollars in the long run. On top of all that, shaving and waxing are short term solutions that last only a few days before unwanted hair grows back.
By switching to laser hair removal, you can say goodbye to spending money on razor refills and inconvenient regrowth periods in between waxing appointments. Laser hair removal targets the root of each hair follicle, providing long lasting results that other methods can’t. While this form of hair removal is low risk, there is some preparation required to ensure both your skin’s safety and the best results.
How do I Prepare for Laser Hair Removal?
Avoid Bleaching the Targeted Area
Laser hair removal works by sending a small ray of concentrated energy, in the form of light, into each hair follicle. Because laser is so dependent on melanin, it’s important to stop bleaching the hair in treatment areas 6 weeks prior to your appointment so the pigment can fully develop.
Don’t Tweeze or Wax
Tweezing and waxing are meant to completely remove the hair follicle, which makes it impossible for laser hair removal to work effectively. It can take anywhere from 4-6 weeks for roots to regrow after waxing or plucking, so you shouldn’t do either of those things in the time leading up to your first appointment (or in between any appointments).
Shave Before your Appointment
Unlike waxing or tweezing, shaving doesn't affect the hair follicle itself. In fact, shaving 1-2 days before your appointment is recommended and reduces the chance of burns and skin damage! Laser is low risk because it only targets hair below the skin’s surface; by shaving off any excess growth before treatment, you eliminate the possibility of any contact between the laser and the outer layer of your skin. If you’re getting laser hair removal done on your bikini area, it is recommended that you shave around 2 days before your appointment.
Avoid Sun Exposure and Self Tanners
You should avoid prolonged sun exposure and the use of self tanners for 2 weeks prior to your appointment. Self tanners affect the pigmentation of your hair, and can result in discoloration after treatment or the inability to properly target hair follicles. Unprotected sun exposure can result in a sunburn, which will greatly increase the risk of developing blisters after treatment.
Stop Using Products that Increase Photosensitivity
Many common skin care products increase photosensitivity, which in turn increases the risk of obtaining burns from laser treatments. To avoid putting your skin at risk, swap out these products for a gentle cleanser and warm water for 3 days leading up to your appointment. These products include:
Retinols
AHAs
Salicylic acid
Benzoyl peroxide

Results become longer lasting with each session, and can be permanent once an entire treatment cycle is complete. Noticeable results appear in as little as one week after your first appointment! You can routinely shave while your treatment cycle is ongoing if desired.
Most medical spas and clinics include 4-5 cycles in a laser hair removal package, but Urban You offers 9 treatment cycles with unlimited touch ups in our Treat to Complete package. Our practitioners are certified, informed, and want what’s best for you.
BBL & MOXI - What is It?
MOXI
The Moxi is a laser treatment designed to treat signs of aging and other skin conditions on the face and neck. Moxi can help improve the texture, tone, and firmness of the skin. It reduces the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and sun damage. Moxi is gentle and often used as a preventative measure against signs of aging.
BBL
The BBL laser works by delivering pulses of light to the skin, which are then absorbed by pigmented areas or blood vessels. This causes the pigment or blood vessels to break down, which the body then naturally removes over time! BBL can help improve the overall appearance of the skin and targets specific blemishes such as age spots.
Both Moxi and BBL are non-invasive, meaning they do not require incisions or surgery! Most people can resume normal activities immediately after treatment. While healing, you may experience mends (pilling of treated skin, resembling coffee grounds). We recommend using a retinol-based product, like SkinMedica’s Retinol Complex, on your third day of healing to speed up the cell renewal process.
Why Should I Book BBL & MOXI Laser During Prepping Season?
BBL & MOXI laser treatments generally take anywhere from 1-3 weeks to see completed treatment results. That being said, most med spas will recommend multiple treatment sessions depending on your desired results.
It’s best to book your laser treatments during Prepping Season so you can adjust the visibility of your results and avoid sun exposure while your skin heals.
Botox Cosmetic - What is It?
Botox® is the brand name for botulinum toxin A — a safe to use formula that blocks certain nerve signals that make muscles contract when it is injected into treated areas. The muscles then relax, reducing unwanted wrinkles or built up tension. Botox injections are noninvasive and nonsurgical, so you can resume daily activities right after treatment. It is the only FDA-approved product to temporarily improve the appearance of both moderate to severe frown lines between the brows and crow’s feet lines in adults.
The most common areas of Botox are:
Frown lines / 11’s / Glabellar lines
Forehead lines
Crow’s feet
Bunny lines
Chin dimples
Neck bands
Lips (lip flip)

Why Should I Book Botox During Prepping Season?
Botox Cosmetic can take anywhere from 1-3 weeks to see results from treatment. If it’s your first time getting treated with Botox, you may want more units in desired areas after seeing your healed results.
